On December 6, the 6th China (Xiaoguwei) "Internet + Transportation" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, the final of the Smart Highway Theme Competition, ended successfully in Guangzhou. This smart highway theme competition is co-sponsored by the Road Network Monitoring and Emergency Response Center of the Ministry of Transport, China Communications News Co., Ltd., Guangdong Provincial Communications Group Co., Ltd., Fujian Expressway Group Co., Ltd., and China Association of Highway , Co-organized by the National Engineering Laboratory of Comprehensive Transportation Big Data (Southwest Jiaotong University). Dean Liu Xiaobo, Deputy Dean Jiang Yangsheng, and Deputy Dean Tang Youhua were invited to participate in the event. During the event, the "Data Productivity Forum for the Smart Highway Competition in 2020" was held simultaneously. Dean Liu Xiaobo and Deputy Dean Jiang Yangsheng were invited as guest speakers at the forum.
The theme of the competition is closely related to the transportation industry policy, "One Belt One Road", Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, etc. The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area serves the whole country and radiates the whole world. It gathers the innovative and entrepreneurial resources of "Internet + transportation" from all parties, and strives to promote the deep application of "new infrastructure" such as 5G, big data, artificial intelligence, and alternative fuel vehicles in the transportation industry. Accelerate the transformation of traditional highways and other infrastructure to digital and intelligent era.
In addition, in order to promote the construction and improvement of the five-in-one innovation cooperation system of "government, industry, university, research and application", and to build a national technology innovation demonstration and promotion platform, the 2020 smart road theme competition will set up a special AI algorithm competition.
At 14:00 pm on December 5th, at the Data Productivity Forum, Dean Liu Xiaobo gave a keynote speech entitled "Technical Challenges and Progress of Autonomous Driving Traffic Control Technology". Professor Yangsheng Jiang, deputy dean of our school and deputy director of the National Engineering Laboratory of Comprehensive Transportation Big Data Application Technology, served as a lecturer for more than 60 major leaders of the companies of Guangdong Provincial Transportation Group, and gave a report entitled "Relying on Big Data + Artificial Intelligence to Build Future Smart Transportation System".
After the competition, the Smart Highway Forum was held. Dean Liu Xiaobo, former Chief Engineer Zhou Wei of the Ministry of Transport, Wang Tai, Deputy Director of the Highway Bureau of the Ministry of Transport, and Zhao Xiangmo, Vice President of Chang'an University, shared their thoughts on the development of the highway industry as guests and interacted with the audience online.
The 2020 Smart Highway Theme Competition has successfully concluded, but the Smart Highway Theme Competition will continue to adhere to the concept of openness and innovation. Our school and the National Engineering Laboratory of Comprehensive Transportation Big Data Application Technology will continue to contribute our strength to the transportation industry.
